Youth 6th Grade through High School
Summer Church Camp: Camp is offered for children first grade through high school at beautiful Camp Kum-Ba-Ya on Kentucky Lake each summer during the months of June and July. Many of our older campers are offered Sailing Camp to learn how to operate and maintain a sailboat. Camp is an exciting and valuable highlight to our youth program.
Youth Work Retreat: Our youth are encouraged to help prepare the camp for camping season at Camp Kum-Ba-Ya staying overnight to accoplish needed cleaning and repairs. Each year the youth help raise the funds to pay at least 50% of their camp truition fees.
West Area Ski Thing: The last weekend of January our youth join the youth of other West Area Christian Churches to travel to Owensboro, KY where they spend the night, and then on to Paoli Peaks in Indiana the next day to snow ski for the day. It's a great way for youth to get to know others throughout our area.
Youth Sunday: Each year, normally in the spring, our youth organize and are completely in charge of a church worship service. They prepare everything from the sermon to the music. It is an amazing and inspiring experience for everyone.
Youth Group Meetings: Our high school age youth typically meet two or three times a month. We have at least one service project a month such as volunteering at Paducah Cooperative Ministry where we have helped organize their food pantry, or Project Hope Animal Shelter where we play with the animals and bring them food and cleaning supplies.
